How to Play Wend
The board
A square grid of letter tiles with a few blank cells. Puzzle #141 uses a 5×5 grid holding 19 letters, which is typical: the puzzle scales the grid to fit the words it wants rather than fixing one size.
The rules
- Find every hidden word. Each is a path through tiles that touch horizontally or vertically, so words can bend.
- Every tile is used exactly once across all words — no overlaps, nothing left over.
- Lengths vary; the set usually runs from one short word up to one long one.
- No clock, one board per day, one attempt on the official puzzle.
Why the word order matters
Solving the longest word first is not a stylistic choice. On this board the longest word is 7 tiles and the shortest is 3; the long one has far fewer valid routes, so every placement it rules out is a route you no longer have to check.
Sources and method
The grid is captured from the official LinkedIn Wend puzzle for Oct 27, 2026. The word boundaries are solved from that grid by our own deterministic solver, which requires every tile to be used exactly once — the counts above are read off the board, not taken from another site.
